Mantras & Science for Health

“Mantra” is derived from the ancient Sanskrit words “manas,” which means “mind,” and “tra,” which means “instrument” or “tool.” A mantra can be thought of as a tool for the mind, or a sound or phrase that helps with concentration, meditation, and improving spiritual growth.

 

Mantras may include syllables, words, or phrases with specific meanings and/or sounds which are believed to have spiritual, psychological, or transformative effects. Repeating a mantra or certain mantras may help focus the mind, enhance mindfulness, and create a connection between yourself and a higher spiritual or cosmic reality (the universe).

 

Mantras have been used in many ancient and current religious and meditative practices worldwide. Spiritual masters from all over the world, have explained and demonstrated how mantras and meditation can greatly improve a person’s discipline by improving concentration.

 

The purpose of including this as part of a healthy lifestyle, is due to the fact that science has proven that working on your mind is just as important as improving your body through exercise. Meditation and reading for example, are exercises for the brain and mind. Proper sleep is critical for overall well-being (body, mind, and brain).

Even more simply put:

 

Mantra = mind practices through positive affirmations and meditation to improve one’s thinking, concentration, discipline, and consistency

 

Trajectory = the path you’re on towards your future self
